It can be found it many cultures throughout the Mediterranean, Europe, Scandinavia and the Orient during the following centuries. In Europe, from the late 1600’s to the 1800’s, it was the sign of wealth from ornate wall trim, furniture, boxes, clocks and chandeliers. It has been popular in Europe and North America from the 1800’s until today. Fretwork of the 1600's and early 1900's was done with hand fretsaws or foot-powered scroll saws. In the 1920's scroll saws were designed for use with electric motors. Today, computerized CNC equipment is used to mass produce. I continue to handcraft my fretwork using a scroll saw, keeping the old arts alive.

I rekindled my paint brushes to fill the time between the hundreds of cuts in fretwork and the intense concentration of turning pens. I only do landscapes and prefer the Bob Ross style as it allows me more freedom to express. Each painting is original, acrylic and oil on canvas and from the imagination of the artist. You will find a theme to my work.
